After the outpatient procedure, Dr. Posten will recommend post-operative care based on the size of the resulting wound. The area may need stitches, a skin graft or flap, or referral to another specialist to reconstruct the area. Or it may not need any of those treatments. Dr. Posten may also recommend products specially formulated to speed healing and reduce bruising of the skin.
In rare cases, complications may occur, dependent on the unique case of your wound. For this reason, it is best for you to expect to stay in the area for seven days following the procedure.
It will also be important for you to be prepared to rest and allow yourself to heal for the weeks following the procedure. Mild or moderate discomfort, bruising or swelling often last for 1-3 days after the procedure. To protect the wound, it will also be important for you to refrain from exercise and lifting of heavy objects for two weeks.
Dr. Posten’s staff will provide detailed post-operative instructions, personalized for your specific case.
Dr. Posten will ask for you to return to the office 7-10 days after the procedure to evaluate the progress of the healing, and to remove stitches if applicable. Advanced Dermasurgery Associates has convenient locations in Dallas & Highland Village.
